If you’re looking for big sound in a compact design, the ROG Cetra True Wireless Earbuds have a lot to offer. These in-ear wireless headphones are designed for gamers and come equipped with an array of features to keep you fully engaged in your game. Whether I was at home or on the go, I let the ROG Cetra do its thing. Let’s take a look at how these headphones perform and see if they can make mobile gaming better.

ROG Cetra earbuds unboxing and design

The unboxing and setup process is quick and easy with the ROG Cetra. open the box and you will find the earbuds, securely placed in the charging case. The case is compact and offers a sturdy build. The only downside is that it’s a bit too round and protrudes from your pocket. The case has a USB-C port and you can also charge it wirelessly with a compatible wireless charging surface. The earbuds are secured in place and charged via magnetized points inside the case. In addition to the earbuds, there are two pairs of different sized ear tips that offer some more secure and comfortable options.

You’ll also find a USB-A to C charging cable, essential for charging headphones for long gaming sessions. There’s also a Quick Start Guide, which has instructions to help guide you through the setup process. It introduces you to all the advanced features of the ROG Cetra earbuds.

Overall, the ROG Cetra is lightweight, fairly durable and easy to use. It has a lightweight but very sturdy hard plastic construction. If you plan on using the earbuds for workouts, they come with IPX4 splash water resistance for added protection. I’ve used these headphones in light rain and they stood up to the harsh weather without any issues.

ROG Cetra Colorway Options

The Centra headphones are available in two color options:black and white. I took a look at the white option and the style is growing on me. When it comes to tech products, I’m always partial to dark colors, but the white Centra gives a modern, clean feel, more like Apple’s (AAPL) AirPods.I was concerned about using the lighter model due to the dirt and signs of wear and tear. I traveled around with the headphones and case and I’m happy to report that they stood up to wear and tear. Tiny fingerprints and signs of wear are easily wiped away. Ultimately, which color you choose depends on your personal preference.

ROG Cetra Battery Performance
In terms of hardware features, it also has a long battery life with a smart fast charging design. The headset can last up to 27 hours when used in combination with the case. The battery life does vary depending on the mode you use it in. When you turn off Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), these headphones can last up to 5.5 hours on a single charge. That’s enough to cover most of your day without having to worry about finding a power outlet.

The ROG Cetra case also doubles as a charger, extending your listening time by 21.5 hours. I was able to get almost a full day’s worth of use out of it, so whether you’re gaming or listening to music, the battery life is long. Even if you’re in a hurry and realize your headphones are dead, Cetra’s fast-charging technology has you covered. Just 10 minutes of charging provides up to 1.5 hours of use. That’s more than enough for a steady gaming session or a long commute. Its smart design and useful features make the ROG Cetra stand out in the crowded world of audio devices.

ROG Cetra True Wireless Touch Control
Writer Matthew Rondina taps the ROG Cetra wireless headset to listen to music.
The touch controls on the ROG Cetra headphones are located on top of the earbuds and are designed to provide quick sound adjustments. The controls allow you to switch through different modes (Heavy ANC / Light ANC / Ambient Mode / ANC Off) with one or a series of taps. These sequences can also be used to activate your voice assistant by holding down, single press to play and pause, double tap to jump forward and triple press to jump backward. Personally, I didn’t find the touch controls intuitive, and sometimes my “clicks” just didn’t cut it. Overall, the basic single-touch controls on the ROG Cetra are easy to use, but it would have been nice to have more complex touches to achieve the desired results.
