Logitech G Cloud review

Simple and Powerful Design
When you first look at the Logitech G Cloud, it’s clear that the device is designed as a portable gaming rig. The body of the G Cloud is made entirely of plastic, and despite that, it still feels solid in your hand.

Take a look at the front of the device, and you’ll see a 7-inch HD screen and game controls like a directional pad, joystick, and buttons.

On the top of the Logitech G Cloud, you’ll find volume controls, a power switch, and trigger and bumper buttons. Look at the bottom of the G Cloud, and you’ll see stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-C charging port.

Overall, the Logitech G Cloud has a nice, clean design, intuitive controls, and durable construction.

Logitech G Cloud’s gorgeous and sharp display
The Logitech G Cloud has an impressive screen, it has a 7″ IPS display with an HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Full HD resolution on the 7″ screen size is perfect for games, media and text All are clear and detailed to the eye.

Logitech’s decision to use an IPS display is welcome, and IPS panels are known for their accurate color reproduction and wide viewing angles. This is especially important for portable devices, as it ensures that you can comfortably view the screen from different angles. Another welcome addition is the display’s maximum brightness of 405 nits. Having a screen that can achieve this level of brightness means you’ll be able to see your games pretty well even in direct sunlight.

Cloud and Streaming Applications
The main selling point of the Logitech G Cloud is its ability to stream games from the cloud. Instead of running games locally from device storage, it relies on streaming apps to play games. The G Cloud comes preloaded with three streaming apps: NVIDIA GeForce Now, Xbox Cloud, and SteamLink. It’s also compatible with other streaming apps like Shadow PC, Google Stadia and AntStream.

In my testing, I played games using NVIDIA GeForce Now and SteamLink. NVIDIA GeForce Now streams games from the cloud, while SteamLink streams games from your PC. I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and responsive the game was, especially when using SteamLink. In both apps, Logitech G Cloud’s controls worked flawlessly without any configuration or button mapping.

It’s important to note that streaming game performance is largely dependent on your internet connection. In addition, when using SteamLink, the hardware of the PC can also affect the quality and smoothness of the game.

Android application
Logitech G Cloud runs on Google’s Android platform and is compatible with games on the Google PlayStore. This allows users to download and play any game available on Google PlayStore.

During my testing, I played games like Asphalt Nitro, Sonic Dash, and Call of Duty Mobile. All games run fine on Logitech G Cloud. One issue I had was that the G Cloud’s controller wasn’t recognized by any Android games. These games treat the G Cloud as just another phone or tablet, allowing only touchscreen controls or the G Cloud’s 6-axis gyroscope to play.

Play games anytime, anywhere with Logitech G Cloud
During my testing period, I took the Logitech G Cloud with me when I was out and about. The purpose is to really test the streaming performance of G Cloud. For the smoothest possible streaming, it is recommended that you have at least a 10Mbps Wi-Fi connection. My phone has a stable 4G connection, and the average download speed can reach 60Mbps. Using my phone as a hotspot, I had no problem playing Ghostrunner and Destiny 2 using the NVIDIA GeForce Now app.

I also tried using SteamLink on the go. To use SteamLink, you need to connect your gaming laptop and Logitech G Cloud to the same wireless network. As I did with NVIDIA GeForce Now, I used my phone’s hotspot to stream Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 from my laptop to the Logitech G Cloud. The game runs smoothly, and I didn’t experience any stutters or slowdowns in public.

Overall, streaming games to the Logitech G Cloud is incredibly smooth as long as you have a good Wi-Fi connection. If you’re using your phone as a hotspot, I recommend keeping a portable power bank nearby. I’ve found that using the hotspot for extended periods of time drains my phone’s battery.
