Delightful titles from Summer Game Fest 2023
How Alan Wake 2 Played at Summer Game Convention
If you like survival horror games with more of a psychological edge, then you’ll love the Alan Wake series. I’m a huge fan of the original game, which was released in 2010, and this psychological thriller has been an incredible ride. Fans of the original game have been eagerly anticipating the sequel for over a decade. From what’s been shown, it seems like it’s shaping up to be something special. During SGF, we got our first glimpse of gameplay, and it’s both weird and amazing. In the brief footage, FBI agent Saga Anderson is exploring an abandoned store. I won’t spoil too much, but there are some great jump scares that leave me wanting more.
Alan Wake 2, due out this October, is a mix of action, adventure, and psychological horror. With its gripping narrative, updated controls, and atmospheric visuals, Alan Wake 2 is becoming a must-play for fans of the original and new.
Alan Wake 2 Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and Microsoft Windows on October 17, 2023
Dead by Daylight DLC: Nicolas Cage Coming to Summer Game Fest!
The popular asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead By Daylight is no stranger to incorporating iconic characters into pop culture. Newest superstar addition Nicolas Cage was teased ahead of Summer Game Fest. Little is known about how Cage will be deployed in the game. Fast-forward to the show, where Keighley stuns the audience by taking Cage himself on stage! There, Cage explains how players will use his in-game character.
In this unique crossover, you’ll play as Nicolas Cage, a new survivor. Many assumed he would appear as a killer, but in reality, Cage would be on the other end of the phone trying to save himself. We got to see his avatar in action, and he looks like an interesting addition. Another exciting detail is that Cage will be voicing his virtual character.
This will undoubtedly create some fun viral gaming moments. I think these crossovers are fantastic, bringing some incredible talent to a game we love. It also opens the door to a wider audience as Hollywood A-listers continue to turn to big gaming franchises.

Street Fighter 6 Exterior DLC
On the heels of the release of Street Fighter VI, Capcom continued to show no mercy. The iconic fighting game franchise is expanding its horizons with an upcoming Exoprimal-themed DLC. This bold new addition will introduce a unique roster of prehistoric warriors, and in the trailer we see Ryu battling a Triceratops and T-Rex.
The Exoprimal DLC also promises to bring a fresh visual style to the series, with Ryu and Guile getting cyborg-inspired skins. The new character models and environments look great. The trailer notes that this is “Collab 1” opening the door for future episodes like this. It looks like Street Fighter VI is ready to take the series to some exciting new places.
The SF6 co-op will launch in the fall of 2023, but you can start playing Street Fighter VI right now.
Crossfire Sierra Squad Coming To PC And PS VR2
One of my long-awaited titles, Crossfire Sierra Squad, is coming to Steam and PlayStation VR2. Previously it looked like it would only be coming to PS VR2, but at SGF they shared that it would also be coming to PC. This new arcade shooter aims to deliver intense, fast-paced action in virtual reality with a plethora of weapons. In the game, you will control an elite paramilitary firepower team to complete dangerous missions in various hostile environments.
With its diverse set of weapons, gadgets, and abilities, Crossfire Sierra Squad seems poised to offer a uniquely fun challenge for fans of the tactical shooter genre. According to the game’s developer, Smilegate Entertainment, the game features: “39 weapons, including pistols, rifles, throwable and throwable grenades, and sniper rifles, with a revolutionary aiming mechanism that gives you plenty of options Come and dispatch 17 types of enemies.” You’ll also be engaging heavy artillery such as helicopters and LAVs in 360° VR space, so be sure to keep your head spinning. “

Bandai Namco Announces Sand Land
During the showcase, players also got their first look at Sandlands, an imaginative and visually stunning new game. “Dragon Ball” is based on the manga of the same name by Akira Toriyama. The action RPG takes players to a vast and mysterious desert world full of dinosaurs and other mysteries. An early highlight for me is The Sands’ compelling art style built entirely in Unreal Engine 5. We’ve only seen the rudiments of Sandlands, but it’s shaping up to be one of the top open-world RPGs.
